Frank DiMaio, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Washington School of Medicine. The DiMaio Lab develops new tools for predicting and designing protein structures, including software for inferring detailed atomic interactions from low-resolution experimental data.
The methods Frank has developed include tools for solving difficult molecular replacement problems, new approaches for low-resolution crystal refinement, and new tools for de novo structure determination from space datasets. Additionally, the DiMaio Lab is interested in structure prediction, developing methods for improving conformational sampling, protein forcefield development, and modeling (and design) of symmetric protein assemblies.
